Welcome to Medill Elementary School for the 2020-21 school year. Whether you are returning to our school for another year or you are brand new, we are pleased to have you join us. This school year has us starting in a way that we have never experienced before. Some of our students will be joining us in a blended model, while others will remain virtual. We have been extremely busy over the past few months preparing the building and preparing to meet the educational needs of students whether they are in person or virtual.
We have a few new staff members joining us this year. We have two new Intervention Specialists, Sydnie Sparks and Lindsey Russell, and three educational aides, April Walters, Hallie Rutter and Amy Uhl. We also have a new Assistant Principal, Evan Thomas. Evan is coming to us from Thomas Ewing Junior High School where he was a Site Coordinator through a district grant. Previous to that assignment, Mr. Thomas had been a junior high art teacher and athletic director for Lancaster City Schools. He also has years of experience as an elementary art teacher in Ashland City Schools. Evan has been involved with developing an multi-tiered system of support for our students in Lancaster City Schools for the past year. He is excited to start the year with his son starting as a Kindergartener.
We will continue to focus creating leadership opportunities for our students. We believe that teaching and modeling positive habits for leadership will lead to student growth and life- long learning. Every student is unique and has something to offer our school community. We want every student to be the best person he/she can be!
Imagine with all your mind. Believe with all your heart. Achieve with all your might.
