The photo shows dump trucks stockpiling dirt at the new General Sherman site on Election House Road. This is excess dirt from the construction site of the Fairfield Medical Center's Health and Wellness Center next to the Riverview Surgery Center.
Earthwork at the Sherman site is not scheduled to begin until early spring. However, because excess dirt needs to be exported from the Health and Wellness Center site and dirt must be imported for the Sherman site, the district is saving approximately $100,000 in costs by importing the dirt now rather than waiting until spring.
Earthwork continues at the new Thomas Ewing site. The ball fields are being graded and water lines are being installed. The sanitary sewer lines and storm lines are complete and the preliminary earthwork for the site is nearly finished.
