Congratulations, to Hannah Sheets for her participation in the inaugural 2014 OMEA All-State Children's Chorus!!She auditioned in May of last year, in which she was required to sing three pieces of music, two of which were a cappella (without accompaniment or music in the background). Auditions were open to all public and private school students in grades 4 and 5 during the 2014-2015 school year whose teachers are members of OMEA. She was selected to be one of 118 students from around the state of Ohio, to participate in this wonderful opportunity!
Hannah was required to attend two practice sessions, prior to the performance, each consisting of 3 hours. The day of the performance she was active in their all-day preparation and practice for the performance that evening at Capital University. As you can see, this was a little time consuming and took a lot of discipline, dedication, and responsibility on Hannah’s part. Under the direction of Dr. Ann Usher, a professor of Music at The University of Akron and Director of the School of Music, Hannah performed and represented Lancaster City Schools with pride and outstanding musicianship! Her passion and talent shined through her performance, and as an educator, I couldn’t have been more proud to see her succeed and enjoy this wonderful experience. One she will carry with her for the rest of her life. She has already approached me about auditioning for next year!
Please join me in recognizing Hannah’s amazing accomplishment and inspiring others that Lancaster City Schools is the Place to be a Music Maker!
